Guyana Football Feder-ation (GFF) Normalization Committee Chief Clinton Urling said affiliates of the entity will soon be in receipt of copies of the new proposed constitution and that an extraordinary congress will be organized shortly to discuss its contents.
In an invited comment with Stabroek Sports, the FIFA appointed chairman said “Our Member Associations will soon receive notice of the meeting and copies of the proposed new GFF constitution. An extraordinary meeting of the congress will be convened before the end of next month for this purpose”.
Questioned if the timeframe allocated to the Normalization Committee is sufficient for it to accomplish all its mandated duties or if an extension will be requested by the body, he said “The Normalization Committee is working with the timeframe as established by FIFA to complete our mandate”.
According to Urling “The Normalization Committee has no intention to request any extension, however, it is up to FIFA to make the ultimate decision as to what happens with the Normalization Committee going forward. As we stand currently, FIFA is clear that our mandate ends in September”.
Asked if the committee has experienced any difficulties in achieving sections of its mandate, Urling said “There has been little difficulties thus far, but we still have an enormous amount of work to do to accomplish our mandate, including reforming the constitutions of each member of the federation and supervising elections for each”.
