BRISTOL, England, CMC – Former West Indies vice-captain Brendan Nash got yet another start but failed to convert but Kent still marched to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Gloucestershire in the English County Championship here yesterday.
The 37-year-old left-hander, who played the last of his 21 Tests four years ago, scored a breezy 25 from 38 balls with six fours as Kent slumped to 35 for two in pursuit of 241 for victory on the final day at County Ground.
He was caught at the wicket off seamer Liam Norwell who also claimed the Australia-born player cheaply for 12 in the first innings.
However, opener Joe Denly stroked an unbeaten 117 and captain Sam Northeast, an unbeaten 88, as Kent overcame their stumble to complete an easy win in the end.
The 29-year-old Denly faced 197 balls in just under four hours at the crease and counted 15 fours and three sixes while Northeast struck 14 fours off 146 deliveries in a shade over three hours.
Nash has gotten a string of starts this season but is yet to pass 50 in eight innings. He has a highest score of 49 against Leicestershire.
