Reigning Chutney king Roger Hinds also known as ‘Young Bill Rogers’ will perform next Saturday, May 30 at the Guyana Day in Florida, USA.
While Guyana celebrates Independence Day next Tuesday, May 26, the Florida celebration is set for May 30 and Young Bill Rogers has been invited to perform.
The Chutney champion said it’s his first time at the Guyana Day and he is not just elated about it, but considers it a privilege.
Young Bill Rogers is likely to give a grand performance among the other Caribbean and US-based Guyanese artistes who are also on the programme. He is expected to perform a number of songs including his two winning songs, “Ah Chutney for my Larki,” and “Searching for a Good Larki”.
The Guyana Day is held every year in the Florida and is presented by the Guyana Day USA Inc and South Florida Guyana American Association. Several activities are scheduled for next Saturday and entry is free of cost. The outdoor activities session will be open from 12 pm – 6.30 pm. A small fee of US$10 will be charged from 6 pm for a performance that is expected to be a blast.
Young Bill Rogers is sponsored by Harry Bissoon, founder of the Guyana Day USA Inc. The Mighty Rebel and Rajesh Dubraj would have represented Guyana at the Guyana Day in the past.
