A man was yesterday sentenced to six months in jail after admitting to stealing speakers and a DVD player.
Kevin Christopher was charged with breaking into a Hadfield Street house between May 16 and 20, 2015 and stealing a DVD player and speakers worth $48,000 in total. The electronics were the property of Kevin Clemens.
Christopher had first appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore last Friday and had entered a guilty plea. However, in his explanation, he denied stealing anything from the house and Magistrate Azore recorded a not guilty plea on his behalf.
The matter was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 11, where Christopher’s guilty plea was accepted by Magistrate Annette Singh. The unrepresented man was subsequently sentenced to serve six months in jail.
