(Barbados Nation) Two men, allegedly part of a ring that bilked local banks out of almost a million dollars, were kept for a week when they made their first court appearance on fraud charges on Tuesday.
Tasha Kissoon, 32, a Briton staying at Jamestown Park, St James, and Dexter Caesar, 44, who has no fixed place of abode, are facing two counts of fraud in relation to a forged CIBC FirstCaribbean Interna-tional cheque for the amount of Bds$96 474.96 dated May 11. They are accused of attempting to obtain the amount with the fake cheque and issuing the forged cheque.
The pair were not required to enter a plea when they appeared before Magistrate Wanda Blair in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court. On the objection of prosecutor Station Sergeant Carrison Henry, the two were held until next Tuesday.
