A phone card vendor, accused of misusing money he made from selling the cards, was yesterday released on bail after declaring his innocence.
Teon Daniels was allegedly entrusted with 150 GT&T phone cards, worth $45,000, and 300 Digicel phone cards, worth $93,000, by Sheik Latif, in order to sell them and return the cash to him. However, Daniels is accused of selling the cards and using the money.
Daniels, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraudulent conversion that was read against him yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 1.
Daniels was placed on $20,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who set June 12th as the date for the next hearing.
