The Mayor and City Council (M&CC) calls on citizens communities and businesses engaged in wanton disposal of garbage, to desist and join its clean-up the city movement.
In a press release, the M&CC said it continues its clean-up exercise in sections of the city with support from several stakeholders who have provided manpower, tools and equipment to assist with the activity.
It said Scotia Bank has donated a quantity of equipment to the Lodge community group which will began to clean the drains, alleyways and parapets in that area today.
According to the release, the North Ruimveldt and the Block ‘F’ North Sophia community development groups will also commence cleaning their respective areas today.
Cleaning today also, will be stallholders operating at the Stabroek Market who will work with the Georgetown City Council to clean the market and its immediate environs.
The M&CC said it is calling on all citizens, businesses and community groups to join its clean-up the city movement.
It further said that it is imploring all citizens and businesses engaged in wanton disposal of garbage, to desist, as their actions can compromise the “hard work and effort by those who desire to see Georgetown regain its name, the “Garden City.”
The council said it is grateful to all those who have since participated in the clean-up efforts.
