Three teams are through to the second round of the Central and Lower East Bank Demerara Zone 18th annual End of school Year Primary Schools windball cricket competition following play at the farm Ground recently.
Diamond, Covent Garden and Peters Hall Primary Schools were in the winners’ row on the opening day of competition.
In the first game, Diamond Primary recorded a one-run victory against Eccles Primary.
Diamond Primary made 59-2 off 5 overs, Steven Simon 20, Jamal Thomas 11 and Kenny Kalpoo 10 were the top scorers. Devendra Krishnall claimed two wickets.
Eccles Primary replied with 58-1 as they fell short by a run, Rawl Gittens made 34 (4×6) and Wayne Holder 10.
Covent Garden recorded an easy win over Providence Primary, who batted first and made 31-2. Amario Griffith scored 17. Covent Garden Primary reached 32-1 in three overs in reply. Vincent Chin made 16.
Peters Hall Primary after been invited to bat by last year first runner’s up team Saint Ann’s Primary, scored 54-2. Joshua Hamilton top scored with 24 while Seon King supported with 16.
St Ann’s in reply, reached 34-3 with Isaac Jackson making 18.
