On May 29, patrons of Moray House were treated to an evening of storytelling by one of Guyana’s most popular storytellers, Francis Quamina Farrier under his “777/77 year” theme.
According to a Moray House Trust press release, “Patrons were magically transported to various settings, where they were regaled by the wise, laid-back reflections of theatre personality Francis Quamina Farrier with his engaging and often hilarious dramatizations.”
The evening’s proceedings was moderated by Malcolm DeFreitas and had several stories told, enhanced by sound effects and “sprinkled” with music.
Farrier’s storytelling, the release said dates back to the 1960’s with the popular radio serial “Tides of Susanburg”.
Some of the stories told were: “The Old Tra-la-la”, “You have Left Something”, “Escape to Paradise”, “Dark Ancestors” and “Ramjohn goes to America”; each of which featured a different aspect of life which ranged from slavery to tourism.
