Man held after firing gun in East Ruimveldt

A man was arrested on Friday morning in East Ruimveldt after a report was made that he discharged his firearm, the police said in a statement.

The statement said that when the police approached the man he ran way. He was pursued during which he threw his firearm into a septic tank. The man was caught and the firearm recovered was a Luger Intratec 9mm.

An eyewitness said the man thought someone in the area stole a motorcycle and he was in the neighbourhood asking questions. However, no one paid attention to him and the man began to shoot up in the air. The man said a woman came out and asked him what nonsense he was doing and the man “chuck up she head.” He said the police came soon after and arrested him.
