Knights brushed aside Eagles 58-45 in an Open division fixture when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) ‘King of the Hard Court’ Championship continued on Friday at the Burnham Court.
Owan Walton, Randy Aaron and Lloyd Bart led the scoring for the winners with 15, 12 and 10 points respectively while Mark Wills top scored with 18 points and Louis James supported with 14 points for the losers.
Knights took the early lead in the matchup as they outshot Eagles 17-13 in the first stanza. They would maintain their advantage going into the half time interval 27-23.
Knights would then pull away in the pivotal third period as they netted 18 points while restricting their opponent to 11 to take a 45-34 lead. They would then close out the match in the final stanza, outshooting Eagles 13-11.
The evening started badly for Eagles as they lost to Plaisance Guardians 62-72 in an U23 affair. Taking a 20-10 lead following the first period, Guardians would extend their advantage by outscoring Eagles 19-15 to go into the half leading 39-15.
The momentum would then change sides in the third period as Eagles cut the deficit to seven, outscoring Guardians 21-14 to go into the final period trailing 46-53. Nonetheless, Guardians would seal the win in the final period as they outscored Eagles 19-16. Action in the event is billed to continue today at the same venue.
