The Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) will run off a three-category softball competition later this month.
The competition, which will be sponsored by Petama Enterprise of 16 Delph Street, Campbellville and Motor Trend Auto Sales, Spares and Repairs of Old Public Road, Enmore, will get underway June 28.
According to a press release from the GFSCA, Petama Enterprise Managing Director Petamber Maharaj and Motor Trend Managing Director Jailall Deodass said they were very enthusiastic about supporting the competition.
Additional sponsors for the competition are Trophy Stall, Ariel Enterprise, Mike’s Pharmacy, Romeo Oil Seal, Rohan Auto Spares, Ramchand Auto Spares and Gainmart producers of Powerline Battery Acid and Powerline Battery Waters.
The tournament will run until October 11, 2015 and will be contested in the male and female Open and male Masters categories.
For the Male Masters, players must born in 1970 or before.
However, all Master Teams can include a maximum of four players born 1971 and 1972 in their squad of 15 members.
Several prizes would be up for grabs with the male Open and male Masters winners set to receive $100,000 and a trophy and the runners-up $25,000 and a trophy.
In the female division, the winner will take home $50,000 and a trophy while the runners-up will take away $20,000 and a trophy.
The player of the series in all the categories will receive a trophy and $10,000 while the player of the match in the final will receive a trophy and $5,000.
The male teams will use the white GFSCA/Trophy Stall balls and the females the yellow Floodlight Balls.
Entrance fees for the Petama Enterprise/Motor Trend Tournament is $15,000 for the males. There is no charge for the female teams.
The tournament will also be used as the ideal build up prior to the fifth GFSCA International Softball Tournament, “Guyana Softball Cup 5” which will be held on October 30th, 31st & 1st November.
