Following the abandonment of Saturday’s scheduled Trial match at the
Gandhi Youth Organisation ground, the 31 U19 and senior female players called to Trials by the Demerara Cricket Board were involved in on-field training sessions.
On Saturday, the players went through the technical facets of the game at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground.
The session was facilitated by national female coach Clive Grimmond, domestic coach Latchman Yadram and Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Territorial Development Officer (TDO) Colin Stuart where the basics of the game in the batting, bowling and catching departments were reinforced.
Yesterday the players were engaged at the GCB cricket facility at La Bonne Intention (LBI), in net and physical sessions between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
In a brief comment coach Grimmond said he is working with a group of talented players who are acquainted with each other and he is very hopeful ahead of the Guyana Cricket Board Inter-County tournament.
The final squad for the seniors is likely to be named between today and tomorrow as the GCB senior inter-county tournament is expected to bowl off on Wednesday. The U-19 squad would be named at a later date.
