An 18-year-old miner was stabbed to death by robbers early yesterday morning on the Kitty Public Road.
Keith Daniels of Yarakita River, was stabbed three times by his assailants, who set upon him and his brother as they were returning to their aunt’s residence, where they were staying.
After being stabbed in the chest and abdomen, Daniels managed to make it to the entrance of his aunt’s home before collapsing.
The police said Daniels was walking along Public Road when he was confronted by three men, one of whom stabbed him to the chest, and they escaped. Daniels was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Neil Daniels, 23, Keith’s brother, said they were returning from the seawall at 1.50 am when he and his brother passed three young boys.
Daniels said one of the boys yelled, “Yo! Yo!”
He said this caused his brother to turn around and in a flash one of the boys grabbed him by his shirt and dived into his pocket. Daniels said this caused him to “kick out.” He said by the time he reached to the passageway of his aunt’s home, the boys sprinted past him.
Daniels said his brother managed to reach the passageway before collapsing. He said neither he nor his brother had any problem with anyone in the area. He said despite seeing strange men around the vicinity, it did not alarm them because they were close to the home. Daniels said he thought the men were waiting on someone.
Jennifer Petram, aunt of the boys, said she believed they might have been attacked because they worked in the interior. The young men would usually visit their aunt every three months and they had been staying in Kitty for the past two weeks.
Petram said her nephew’s assailants did not get anything of value from him because his phone was not expensive. Petram said he also did not have a lot of cash on him.
The woman said she had told her nephews not to leave the house and go to the seawall but they ignored her.
Daniels is survived by eight siblings.
