Current FIFA Assessor and former referee Roy McArthur will become the first Guyanese to assess a FIFA World Cup Qualifying match.
McArthur who officiated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match between Honduras and Netherlands Antilles, will assess the 2015 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match between Aruba and Barbados on June 10.
The historic appointment is the fourth assignment to date this year for McArthur.
Previously, the veteran official performed duties as assessor in the CONCACAF U20 event in Jamaica in January, in group-4 of the CFU Club Championship in Haiti in April and in the final of the CFU Club Championship in Trinidad and Tobago last month.
A football assessor’s role is to advice, support and guidance to referees in an effort to raise the standard of officiating.
