Due to Guyana’s participation in the 2015 Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) in the British Virgin Islands later this month, the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) has pushed back the final match of their King of the Hardcourt Championship to June 27.
GABA President Junior Hercules in a statement issued yesterday said: “In the interest of the safety of all players competing to represent Guyana at the CBC Championship, the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association has decided to postpone the finals of the King of the Hardcourt tournament to the 27th June 2015.”
The Guyana men’s team, following its official selection today, will depart local shores on Saturday. Currently, the local side has been placed in group-A with the likes of Suriname, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas and Bermuda.
The top two teams from the group playoffs will advance to the final four section. Guyana finished fifth at last year’s championships.
