A former policeman came under attack last evening when a lone gunman walked up to him and opened fire while he was sitting outside of his home.
Ravi Outar of 143, Second Street, Rose Hall Town, was shot around five times about his body and was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital. The incident occurred sometime after 8:35 pm.
His wife, Meshell Outar, who operates a pool hall and bar, had been sitting outside of the business entity. Whilst walking into the bar, Outar told
investigators she heard several explosions suspected to be gunshots. Upon enquiring what the explosions were, she said she returned outside and saw a man walking out the street and jumped into a waiting car.
Last evening when Stabroek News visited the scene, scores of residents expressed shock at the incident as it is uncommon for such crimes to occur in the town. Police were seen conducting investigations.
Outar was rushed to the hospital by residents who arrived first on the scene and his wife was being consoled by residents.
