The Guyana Hockey Board has officially reduced its national junior squad to 20 players in preparation for the Players Tournament to be held from August 1st-8th in Trinidad and Tobago.
The event which is expected to attract teams from throughout the Caribbean as well as Mexico and Pakistan, is part of the GHB’s plan for the team to gain international exposure prior to representing Guyana at the Pan American Junior Championships in Toronto Canada during the month of May.
Training for the national programme initially began during October 2014 following the staging of a developmental camp during the month of August, with 37 players being originally shortlisted to commence training.
The players shortlisted to date are Mark Sargeant, Medroy Scotland, Kareem McKenzie, Keon McKenzie, Daniel Hooper, Shaquille Leung, Meshach Sargeant, Rosario Ramsammy, Eleomar Silva, Aroydy Branford, Andrew Stewart, Leon Bacchus, Stephon Sprosta, Deheron Wilkinson, Hilton Chester, Paramanand Dindial, Shemar Boston, Troy Hodge, Ato Greene and Isaiah Hope.
