A man who admitted to entering a woman’s yard and stealing her clothes baskets and doormats was yesterday sentenced to 18 months in jail.
Devon Semple pleaded guilty to the charges read by Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 11.
Police Prosecutor Adduni Inniss said Semple, on June 2nd, at Breda Street, Werk-en-Rust, entered the yard of Farzana Hannif and stole three clothes baskets, all valued $3,000. Semple was also charged with entering the complainant’s yard on June 6th and stealing a quantity of doormats, valued $12,500.
Magistrate Singh sentenced Semple to nine months in jail on each charge. The sentences will run consecutively.
