The Carter Center is looking forward to continued efforts with the new David Granger administration in some critical areas, including electoral reform and inclusive governance, according to the Center’s Field Office Director Jason Calder.
Calder met with Granger on Thursday at the Ministry of the Presidency, where discussions were held, the Government Information Agency (GINA) has reported.
According to Calder, the meeting was positive and the President reflected on the electoral process and outlined his hopes going forward for Guyanese. “We also had the opportunity to talk about some areas where the Carter Center may be interested in doing some continuing work in Guyana, including on electoral reform, social cohesion, and reconciliation and the question of inclusive governance,” Calder was quoted as saying.
The Carter Center was among several international observer missions that were present for the May 11th general and regional elections.
