Region four defending champions Mahaica Primary School was recently knocked out of the End of School Ministry of Education Department of Sport – AL Sport and Tour Promotions windball cricket Champions Trophy as action in the tourney continued at the Unity/Lancaster Ground.
In a close encounter against Gibson Primary, Mahaica Primary lost by four runs failing to make it out of the Upper East Coast Zone.
Sent in Gibson rallied to 51-6, with Samuel Moses top scoring with 15 while Afraz Hussain made 13. In reply Mahaica was restricted to 47-3. Trevon Adams scored 17 and Omari Walcott chipped in with 10.
Gibson and Ann’s Grove Primaries played to a tie in the other contest, but scores were not available up to press time.
Gibson Primary dominated the female category with two wins against Ann’s Grove and Mahaica Primaries respectively.
In the first game, Ann’s Grove Primary won the toss and invited Gibson Primary to take first strike.
Roshini Shivtahal and Sheniss Henry scored 12 each to take the team’s score to 48-1. In pursuit of the target, Ann’s Grove reached 47-5, falling one run short of victory. Annika Alleyne 14 and Tonya Herod 10 were the principal scorers.
In the second game Gibson Primary won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 33-1 from their allotted five overs with Shavannie Sukhu making 20 and Sheniss Henry contributing 10.
Mahaica Primary replied with 27-3, Ester Wickhon scored 15 and Loyrren Barrack 12 while Sheniss Henry grab three wickets without conceding a run.
