The largest national football tournament will kick-off today when the fifth edition of the Digicel secondary schools championship commences with three matches across several venues.
With all matches programmed to begin at 15:30hrs respectively, the event will commence in the West Demerara region at the Leonora Sports Facility with West Demerara Secondary taking on L’Aventure Secondary.
Over at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, Richard Ishmael Secondary will oppose Guyana Trust College while the final fixture of the day will pit Wisburg Secondary against New Silver City Secondary at the Wisburg ground.
Tomorrow, the event will continue with four fixtures at several venues at the same time period. At the Skeldon Community Centre ground, Tagore Secondary will lock horns with Manchester Secondary.
At the Tucville ground, David Rose Secondary will oppose Tucville Secondary while Mackenzie High will oppose Linden Foundation at the Wisburg ground. The final fixture will witness Friendship Secondary tackling Apex Secondary at the Grove Community ground.
The event will then continue on Friday with five matches at 15:30hrs. Houston Secondary will oppose St. Mary’s Secondary at Tucville ground while Soesdyke Secondary will tackle Covent Garden at the Grove Community ground.
Over at the Leonora Sports Facility, Stewartville Secondary will lock horns with Endeavour Secondary while at the Victoria Community ground, Hope Secondary will tackle La Bonne Intention Secondary.
The final match of the day will pit New Amsterdam Technical Institute against Corentyne Secondary at the Burnham Park venue. On Saturday at 15:30hrs in the lone fixture, Harmony Secondary will oppose Kwakwani Secondary at the Wisburg Secondary.
The current titleholder is Christianburg/Wismar Secondary who has won three consecutive championships in the history of the event.
