Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) President Nigel Hinds said he is unsure what the reasons were for national basketball player Kean Andrews remaining in the British Virgin Islands despite the conclusion of the CBC Women’s Championship.
Team Guyana returned on local shores on Saturday following a winless campaign, finishing in the eighth position.
In an invited comment with Stabroek Sports, Hinds said that he has not “received the all the facts” regarding the matter, noting however, that the entire team was expected to return to local shores on Saturday.
Hinds suggested that while Andrews possibly could have stayed on for the ongoing men’s section of the event, she has breached the team’s stipulated regulation and as such after the facts are gathered, the possibility exists that “some kind of action will be taken against Andrews”.
Presently the male section of the event is ongoing with Guyana yet to record a win in their opening three matches.
