Former national under-19 skipper Shawn Perreira has been included in the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club team which will compete in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) fund raiser T20 Competition, “Caricom Championship” 2015 under the Gizmos and Gadgets banner.
The former leg spinning all-rounder along with several other former junior national players
are expected to bring excitement to the competition when they don the club’s colours on the day of the event.
Former national wicket keeper/batsman Delbert Hicks will be the player/coach while veteran administrator Hilbert Foster is the manager.
The full team reads: Akshay Homraj, Vidal Crandon, Clinton Pestano, Jason Sinclair, Shawn Perreira, Eon Hooper, Sherwin Murray, Troy Mathieson, Collis Butts, Keon Sinclair, Brandon Prashad, Kumar Jeet Joseph, Jason Anderson and Simeon Lawson, coach/player Delbert Hicks and Manager Hilbert Foster. The Caricom T20 Championship will take place on July 5th at the Albion Community Development Centre ground.
The Caricom Champion -ship will see the top eight T20 first division teams in Berbice taking part in a 10 overs-a-side over knockout competition with the final being a 20 overs-a-side affair and which will be played under lights for a top prize of $80,000.00 and a trophy. The runner up team will receive $40,000.00 and trophy with the losing finalists $15,000.00 each. Man of the match in every game will be rewarded. Action is scheduled to commence at 10am sharp.
The teams are: Upper Corentyne/Skeldon, Port Mourant, Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Albion, Young Warriors/Edinburg/Rose Hall Centre, Police/ Bermine, Blairmont/West Berbice and Bush Lot/D’Edward.
