The police are looking for three suspects in relation to the murder of Travis Rudder at Nandy Park on Sunday, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told this newspaper last night.
He would not be drawn on what a possible motive for the crime might have been.
The police had said that shots were discharged through the bedroom window of the residence of Rudder, 26, hitting him and his fiancée Mawanza Gill and their 18-month-old son Travic Rudder.
It was around 1.15 am that gunmen entered the man’s yard at Lindley Avenue, Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara and riddled him, his girlfriend and his son with bullets. His girlfriend and family refused to speak with Stabroek News yesterday.
Sources say the house was blasted with bullets for about 15 minutes and the baby was hit several times, while the father was shot in his abdomen, right elbow, ankle, groin and foot. Gill was shot seven times in her legs and as a result she sustained several broken bones.
According to reports, Rudder died on the spot and he was lying on top of his baby trying to shield him.
Rudder was found not guilty of the murder of his then 14-year-old girlfriend Donnis King in 2011. He had also been charged with the murder of a cooking gas delivery-man, the attempted murder of ex-policeman Toney Williams, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. Sources say that attempts were made to execute him before and on several occasions incendiary devices were lobbed at his home.
