The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that several persons and businesses found in breach of anti-littering regulations have been served notices to attend court.
According to a press release, in May several individuals and companies found in breach of the Environmental Protection Litter Prevention Regulations were served notices to attend court. Chavez Allicock of 33 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, was summoned for the illegal dumping of domestic waste at Success and Haag Streets, Charlestown, Georgetown.
Brian Lawrence of 40 Goedverwagting East Coast Demerara (ECD) ; Reuel Sauers of 59 Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke Linden Highway; Winston Clarke of 125, Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara; Hemawit Mohabir of 213 D’Andrade Street, Newtown, Georgetown; Dennis M Lewis of Sophia, Georgetown; Fay Elizabeth Parris Jupiter of 3545, Stevedore, Housing Scheme, Georgetown; Chaterpaul Singh of 132, Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown and Devanna Samaroo of 8, Tuschen Scheme, East Bank Essequibo were all served notices for failing to provide a waste receptacle in public transportation.
Also in May, Litter Removal and Clean-up Orders were issued to the following individuals and businesses: Albert Ganesh of 71, 2nd Street, Prospect, EBD; Dr Agueda Surrey of 23 First Street, Alberttown, Georgetown; Ram’s Auto Spares of 141 Light and Fourth streets, Alberttown; Andrew Shanks of 89 Light and First streets, Alberttown; Andrew Degrella of 174 Thomas Street, Kitty, Georgetown; Khemaraj Nanan of 32 Light and Second streets, Alberttown; Paulette Stephen of 146 Cummings Street, Alberttown; Ryan Edward of 65 Area Q, Turkeyen, ECD; Aileen McKinnon of 28, 3rd Street; Alberttown; BK International of 1-2 Mudlot, Water Street, Kingston, Georgetown; Danny Gordon of 29 Second Street, Alberttown; Angelica Barroncas and Sharon (only name given) both of 197 Samatta Point, Grove, EBD; Isha Sabsook of 196 Samatta Point; Puran Chand Bharrat of 280 Block 12, Nonpareil, ECD and Tommy Ramdin of 278 Cummings Lodge, ECD.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) commends the various groups and individuals who have embarked on cleaning exercises to enhance their environment. However, while these works are being undertaken persons continue to dispose of waste at illegal dumpsites.
