A wedding celebration at Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) turned out to be a bloody affair after four men were chopped by another man on Saturday night.
Ramassar Jaikarran, 45, a vendor of Strathspey, ECD; his son, 22-year-old Kapildeo Jaikarran; Imran Fazal, 22, a bus conductor and 19-year-old Jadish Dookna were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) Accident and Emergency Unit late Saturday night. The injuries they sustained included chops to their hands, wrist and other parts of their bodies while Kapildeo sustained a cut to his head.
Jaikarran’s wife, who did not give her name, told Stabroek News that the men were at a wedding house when a misunderstanding arose between them and another man. As a result, the woman said, the man armed himself with a knife and started to chop her husband and son as well as Fazal and Dookna about their bodies. The misunderstanding is said to have arisen from an ongoing family issue according to the woman.
The men were up to late yesterday afternoon receiving treatment at the hospital.
