A Pork-Knocker was placed on bail after he denied chopping another man with a cutlass during a confrontation at an interior shop.
Steven Wilson appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawful wounding.
The charge states that on June 18th, 2015, at Wineperu Backdam, Wilson unlawfully and maliciously wounded Lloyd Burke.
The prosecution’s case is that Wilson, 33, was watching over a shop when he left and subsequently returned to find Burke in the area. It is alleged that Wilson questioned Burke about his presence and an argument broke out and a scuffle ensued.
Wilson allegedly then armed himself with a cutlass and chopped Burke.
The prosecution objected to bail given the seriousness of the matter.
However, Magistrate McLennan placed Wilson on $150,000 bail on the condition that he stay at least 50 feet away from Burke.
His next court date is July 13th, 2015, when the matter is to be heard at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
