Minister of State Joseph Harmon said yesterday that the work of the National Assembly will continue into the scheduled recess period as there is much to be completed, particularly the presenting of the national budget.
Speaking at his weekly post-cabinet briefing held at the Ministry of the Presidency, Harmon said that because the new Parliament was opened in June the recess that would have started in August and run to October would have to start later because the budget needs to be presented.
“We have work to do and we have actually spoken and we will continue to speak to our MPs to ask that they accept a reduced recess so that the work of the people, the work of the Parliament can be given priority,” Harmon said.
He said it is hoped that when the PPP/C’s parliamentarians finally take up their seats they will recognize that the people’s work is a priority and lend their support.
