Three bandits robbed a Digicel store on Sheriff Street, Campbellville on Wednesday and one of the men was held a day later after being spotted in the vicinity.
According to a police statement, the three men, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered the premises at about 4PM on Wednesday and held up two female staff members and took away a quantity of cell phones, phone cards and sim cards. They also made off with jewellery and cell phones belonging to the store workers.
However, sometime during yesterday, the police said one of the suspects was seen in the vicinity of the store and he was arrested after police were alerted.
When Stabroek News visited the store last evening, it was closed and workers at a GuyOil gas station, located next door to the store, said that they were not aware that it had been robbed. The workers said they observed that the store was opened during the day and police were on the premises but nobody was aware of the reason for their presence.
