A youth accused of wounding a man with the intention of murdering him was yesterday refused bail after being arraigned in a city court.
Mark Spencer, 18, of Lot 4 Laing Avenue, was not required to plead to the charge read by Magistrate Ann McLennan. The charge stated that Spencer, on June 27th, at Houston, East Bank Demerara, unlawfully wounded Mark White, with intent to murder him.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail since the complainant is still hospitalised in a serious condition.
Spencer, who was unrepresented at yesterday’s hearing, informed the court that he secured the services of attorney Dexter Todd. However, he said the lawyer was unable to be in court at the time since he was required to attend an important meeting in another district.
Spencer was subsequently refused bail and he was remanded to prison until July 17th.
