MEXICO CITY, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors will clash with CONCACAF giants, Mexico, on September 4, in a friendly international which will beef up preparations for the Caribbean side’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign starting in November.
The contest, set for Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, will signal the 19th meeting between the two nations. Ironically, both teams are scheduled to meet later this month in Group C of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.
Mexico, known affectionately as El Tricolor, holds a 12-3 cushion in wins, with their last victory coming two years ago, also during a Gold Cup quarter-final.
T&T, meanwhile, have not beaten Mexico since pulling off a 2-1 win ten years ago in a World Cup qualifier, in Port of Spain.
The Soca Warriors enter the CONCACAF 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign along with Mexico, Costa Rica, United States, Honduras and Panama.
CONCACAF qualifiers for Russia 2018 began in March and two rounds have already been completed.
