Tucville Secondary overcame New Campbellville Secondary 4-2 when the fifth edition of the Digicel Secondary Schools football championships continued yesterday at the Tucville ground.
Donald Macey opened the scoring for the home side with a 27th minute strike but the visitors would level the score three minutes later through Kenford Stoby.
Tucville would retake the lead in the 34th minute when Sherwin Reid etched his name on the scorer’s sheet.
The hosts would then double their advantage in the 41st minute as Calvin Peters found the back of the net. Kenroy Baptiste would then cut the deficit to one for the visitors’ compliments of a 62nd minute penalty conversion, following a hand-ball infraction within the box.
Tucville would then put the game beyond the reach of their challengers as Peters netted his second goal in the 77th minute.
Similarly sealing their berth to the next round was Soesdyke Secondary who defeated Providence Secondary 7-0 at the Timehri Red Ground.
At the Ministry of Education ground, North Georgetown Secondary downed Cummings Lodge Secondary 6-3 while over at the Burnham Park ground, Berbice High School crushed New Amsterdam Technical Institute by a 7-0 margin.
