St. Rose’s High, Kwakwani Secondary, President’s College and New Amsterdam Multilateral clinched respective divisional titles when the Conference Tourney in the YBG National Schools Basketball Festival concluded on Friday.
In the Georgetown finale, St. Rose’s High defeated Marian Academy 47-34. Nathan Saul led the scoring for the winners with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Anfernee Jervis supported with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
For the losers, Dwayne Obermuller netted nine points. In the Region 10 Zone finale, Kwakwani Secondary edged Linden Technical Institute 64-60. Dellon Wallace top scored for the winners with 19 points while Troy David and Kerrol Phillips supported with 12 and eight points apiece. Dennis Niles recorded a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds while junior national player Terron Welch supported with 20 points and 18 rebounds for the losers. In the East Coast Divisional finale, President’s College dismantled Plaisance Secondary 46-28. Jaleel Duke led the way with 14 points while Anton Fileen chipped in with 10 points. Top scoring for the losers with nine points and 10 rebounds was Nigel Bowen. In the Berbice Conference final, New Amsterdam Multilateral dismantled JC Chandersingh Secondary 42-27.
Registering a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win was Sherland Gillis. On the losing side, Michael King and Leroy Lashley top scored with nine points each.
