Trucks have been banned from crossing the rehabilitated Liliendaal bridge on the railway embankment road but one of the uprights erected on Friday by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure has already been torn down.
On Friday, the recently repaired bridge was outfitted with two metal structures on each end, approximately 10 feet in height, spanning the bridge.
A resident of the area yesterday told Stabroek News that on Saturday, while attempting to cross the bridge, a truck hit the first metal structure and damaged it. “Then it wasn’t long after that another one come. A lady de driving a big canter and knock it off completely,” a resident said, stating that the person went away with the broken structure.
Stabroek News was unable to make contact with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure yesterday to ascertain when the structure will be repaired.
