A young woman was yesterday remanded to prison on multiple charges, including being in possession of a police badge and handcuffs.
Stephanie Persaud, 20, appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Providence Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges that she was found with a police badge and handcuffs that were suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained on July 8th, 2015, at Friendship, East Bank Demerara.
Persaud was also accused of stealing items, including a chair suite, all valued $425,000 in total, from Linda Rodrigues, between September, 2014, and May, 2015, also at Friendship.
The prosecution stated that all of the items were recovered. Persaud pleaded not guilty to the charges but Magistrate Daly denied her bail and remanded her to prison until July 30th, 2015, when her next hearing is scheduled.
