A 30-year-old employee of Prittipaul Singh Investments Inc was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Unit (A&EU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) last night after he was hit down by a vehicle on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
The accident occurred at around 6.55 pm yesterday and resulted in Hollis Grant of Lot 521 North/East La Penitence having the right side of his face ripped away. Up to press time last night, he was still a patient at the A&EU in an unconscious state.
According to his mother, Simone Dowding, she was at home about to go to bed when she received a call informing her that her son was in an accident. The woman said she immediately rushed to the hospital where she barely managed to get a glimpse of Grant.
She noted though that she was informed that he is in an unconscious state and he was being prepared for x-ray late last night.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were still unknown to the man’s family up to press time but this newspaper understands that Grant was on his way home from work on his motorcycle when the incident occurred.
He was picked up and taken to the GPH by the driver, who was later taken into police custody.
