National player Priscilla Greaves played unbeaten last weekend to capture the girls 18 years and under title at a specially arranged tournament run by the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) in observance of Olympic Day.
Playing in the round robin final, Greaves defeated Nevaeh Clarkston, Selenas Jackman and Abigale Martin en route to winning the category.
Clarkston, Jackman and Martin were second, third and fourth respectively.
In the boys 18 years and under final, Ryan Narine defeated the up and coming Nicholas Romain 14-12,10-12,12-10,11-7 (3-1).
Romain had earlier secured an upset win over the more established and experienced Sheldon Atherley of in one of the more exciting contests of the tournament.
Atherley and Keshon Reece were joint third after Reece was beaten by Narine 1-3, in the other semi-final.
In another round robin final Nevaeh Clarkston defeated Kristie Lopes (3-2), Selenas Jackman (3-0) and Abigale Martin (3-1) to finish on top in the girls 15 years and under category.
Lopes was second, Jackman, third and Martin fourth.
In the men’s Open final, Shemar Britton defeated Joel Alleyne in five pulsating sets winning 11-7, 14-12, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6 (4-1).
Veteran Colin France and Edinho Lewis were joint third.
In the semi-finals Alleyne defeated France 11-9,7-11,11-6.11-9,11-4 while Britton got the better of Lewis 5-11,11-6,11-6,11-7,13-11 in another highly entertaining encounter.
The presentation of prizes was done on Friday afternoon at Olympic House.
