A Charlestown resident allegedly found by the police with a quantity of cannabis concealed in the floor boards of his shack was yesterday remanded to prison.
Tineto Farley, 27 pleaded not guilty to a charge which started that on July 11, at Lombard Street, Charlestown, he had in his possession 1.518 kilogrammes of cannabis for trafficking when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, police, acting on information received, conducted a search on a shack and the cannabis was found under the floorboards. The defendant was arrested and told of the offence. However, under caution, he allegedly replied, “I know what I am playing with is three years jail. I know the rules.”
Magistrate Ann McLennan subsequently refused bail and the matter was adjourned to August 3.
