A seven-goal blitz from Kelsey Benjamin propelled Chase Academy to a 9-0 drubbing of St. Joseph’s High when the Digicel Secondary Schools Championships, Georgetown Zone, continued yesterday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.
The wily Benjamin opened the scoring in the third minute of play before Jaleel Hamilton doubled their lead with a 20th minute strike. Benjamin would then take over the fixture as he netted three consecutive goals to effectively end the contest.
He started with a 23rd minute penalty kick conversion before netting 11 minutes later to seal his hat-trick.
Benjamin would then grab his helmet-trick as he found the back of the net once more in the 56th minute.
Sese Norville would then interrupt the Benjamin highlight reel as he netted one minute later to take the score to 6-0. Nonetheless the regular programming quickly continued as Benjamin netted another three goals to end the contest. Benjamin netted his fifth in the 70th minute before grabbing his sixth of the match with a strike three minutes later. He would then seal the lopsided contest with his seventh of the day compliments of a 77th minute effort. Similarly recording a crushing win was the Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) who dismantled North Georgetown Secondary 7-0 at the same venue in a Woolford Avenue derby affair.
Juan Bailey recorded a double in the win in the 62nd and 68th minutes while Robby McGloggan, Hakeem Clarke, Raffiel Bollers and Paul Chang scored in the 32nd, 49th, 59th and 75th minutes respectively.
Completing the score line was an own goal. Over at the Tucville ground, Dolphin Secondary came from behind to defeat arch-rivals Lodge Secondary by a 2-1 score line.
