Table Tennis Summer Camp underway in Bartica

International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) level two coach Raynor `Copter’ Anderson in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association and Scotiabank recently commenced a table tennis training camp for beginners.

The “Building Future Champions” development camp for beginners and intermediate players in the Bartica community is being held daily

at the Bartica Community Centre.

Sessions are being held from 4pm to 7pm daily and the camp ends August 11.

According to a press release, the camp is aimed at teaching the fundamentals of the sport to children between the ages of six to 18.

Following the conclusion of the training camp, the talented players will be singled out for continuous training.

There are also plans to develop the programme in more holistic way targeting players within the school and communities from the region after this training camp ends.

Anderson, the former top Linden player, has been a driving force for table tennis in Bartica and is responsible for the introduction and development of Sheldon Atherly and Alex Hopkinson into the national team.
