Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CC&PA) Ann Greene has returned to her job after the 36 days leave she was sent on by Minister of Social Protection Volda Lawrence.
Sources at the agency confirmed that Greene has been back on the job for some time now and is performing her regular duties.
In late May, Minister Lawrence sent Greene on leave after she verbally attacked Junior Minister Simona Broomes during a meeting.
Lawrence had told Stabroek News that Greene’s behaviour was unacceptable and that she had disrespected both herself and Broomes. She had stated that Greene verbally attacked Broomes and refused to listen to her (Lawrence) even when she told her to stop.
Greene for her part had defended herself in a letter saying that she was not disrespectful and that she had broached the issue of Broomes making amends with employees at the agency in a “conversational” tone. She had wanted the minister to apologise to employees for “hurtful” comments she made on the campaign trail about the agency.
