Residents of Georgetown and the lower East Coast awoke today to find floodwaters higher than they were at any point over the last two months after an intense storm dumped inches of rain between yesterday afternoon and early this morning. The rain has eased this morning but the skies portend more rain.City kokers and pumps will have to work overtime to clear the accumulated water. The water level on the East Coast may rise even higher as water from the backlands move north. The storm appeared to have caught all by surprise and there had been no warning from the weather forecasters about intense storm. Yesterday's flooding was unusual as it started later in the afternoon and intensified around 10 pm.
