National junior table tennis champion Chelsea Edghill will participate in a high-level training programme next month in Puerto Rico.
According to a press release from the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), the camp will run from August 11th-August 17th and will see
the top 22 junior and cadet players from the Latin America region participating. The Latin American players will train and play matches against China’s national junior players in one week of intense of training under the guidance of Chinese Olympic and World champion team coaches headed by world renowned top level Chinese coach Zhang Xiaopeng
The training will take place at the Nilmarie Santini Gymnasium – Sports and Recreation Department, San Juan Puerto Rico, stated the release.
While accommodation is free at the Hyatt House, San Juan Hotel, Puerto Rico for the duration of their stay, the GTTA will need to cover the airfare for Edghill and her coach.
The best players (one boy and one girl) from the training camp will be selected based on their ability, results, technical level and commitment to training to participate in higher levels and continuous training, the release stated.
The China Table Tennis Association will donated DHS equipment to all participating countries.
