In an effort to continue their tradition of youth development, Tucville giants Fruta Conquerors will be staging their 8th Annual Football Summer Camp during the month of August at the entity’s club house at the Tucville Community ground.
The developmental programme which will target boys and girls between the ages of 7-17, will run from August 3rd-21st from 9:00hrs-16:00hrs. Interested individuals can uplift registration forms at the same venue.
Club Secretary Daniel Thomas during an invited comment said that the objective of the course is for it to be a far-reaching initiative that will incorporate two components which are educational and soccer-related subjects.
According to Thomas, the morning sessions of the programme will be centred around the educational aspect while the afternoon periods will be focused on all the soccer-related topics.
He noted that the programme will also cover anger management, peer pressure, conflict resolution, in-depth knowledge of the game, aspects on refereeing, drug and substance abuse and sexually-transmitted diseases among others.
Thomas noted that currently, the programme has received support from Scotiabank as well as the Guyana Football Federation who view the initiative as another avenue in the development of the discipline.
He further said that the programme has also received support from the Director of Sports Christopher Jones while stating that the club is also awaiting responses from other companies they would have written to help assist in the staging of the programme.
According to Thomas, while the participants will incur no cost to partake in the event, the club would accept any tangible donation towards the event as “we intend to feed the kids” during the entirety of the initiative.
