One of the three accused implicated in the murder of Meadow Brook accountant Jason Cort has been accused of attempting to escape from the police.
Clifton Gibson of ‘K’ 18997 Perry Street, Tucville was read the indictable charge when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts yesterday.
The charge stated that on June 29th, at Lamaha and Parade Streets, while Gibson was in lawful custody being escorted to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), he escaped from the police.
No other details about the charge was related to the court.
Gibson stood motionless during the hearing and mumbled as he told the court that he worked with his sister as a shop keeper.
He was ordered to return to court on August 10.
Last month, Gibson was charged along with Stancy Rodney, a mason, and Linton Eastman, 23, with murdering Cort on June 17th, at Meadow Brook Gardens, pursuant to a robbery. Cort, 27, was shot to the chest just after he had returned home.
His gold chain, a bracelet worth $500,000, his licensed firearm, an Xbox gaming console and his smartphone were stolen in the robbery.
