The cycling season continues tomorrow with the staging of a 50-mile road race at West Demerara.
Coordinated by Hassan Mohamed, the Dr. Chase, in collaboration with Massy Distribution (Guyana) Inc., sponsored event is scheduled for an 8 0’clock start at the Wales Police Station.
The wheelsmen will then proceed to Bushy Park then turn back for the finish and prize presentation at Schoonord.
Paul DeNobrega who as recently returned to form was last year’s winner in the senior category and is scheduled to defend his title
However, with the likes of Geron Williams, and the Team Gillette Evolution quintet ( Orville Hinds, Michael Anthony, Raul Leal, Marlon Williams and Akeem Wilkinson), the Team Alanis standout will be hard pressed to repeat.
Riders from Team Coco’s and the Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club will also be aiming for the top podium spots.
DeNobrega, took the top honors in last year’s race in one hour, 52 minutes and 56 seconds. The competitors this year will be keen on finishing faster.
Michael Anthony (Junior), Toshwanna Doris (Female), Monty Parris (Over-60) and Ozia McAulay (Mountain Bike) were the other categorical winners in 2014 along with Wasim Hasnoo (Veteran).
According to Mohamed, pharmaceutical Manager Karen Connell and Dr. Chase’s representative Claude Gunraj will be on hand to witness the race and present prizes.
This year marks the sixth consecutive staging of the event.
