Allain Stoll, the man accused of raping a 13-year-girl from Bartica, was further remanded to prison on Friday.
Stoll, 21, of Mora Camp, Mazaruni River, has been charged with sexually abusing the minor at two locations. He was not required to plead to the charges and Magistrate Dylon Bess subsequently remanded him to prison. Stoll will return to court next month.
According to the Divisional Commander Courtney Ramsey, the police are still waiting on advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions to lay other charges against Stoll.
According to the girl’s mother, Stoll was initially on $10,000 bail but the magistrate remanded him after the court learnt that the 13-year-old had run away with Stoll once again.
The girl’s mother said her daughter is responding well to counselling and is back in church.
The girl’s mother had said her daughter had been raped by Stoll since she was twelve.
The mother had said the police failed to do anything about the situation despite several attempts to have the man arrested. She said the young man had asked the police to give him a “chance.” She added that the young man and her daughter were scolded and no arrest was made.
The mother said after the police gave the man a chance, he would sneak her daughter out of the house when she was not at home.
The woman said on one occasion he took her away for 12 days. She said the situation finally boiled over and both her daughter and the man were charged. Her daughter was charged with wandering.
