Public-spirited citizens thwarted a robbery at Pouderoyen yesterday saving a miner and assisting police in capturing the two perpetrators who wounded him with a knife.
According to the Guyana Police Force, several persons responded when 25-year-old miner Clint Gunpat was attacked by two armed men after he exited a minibus on the Pouderoyen Public Road. The incident occurred at around 14:30hrs.
The two attackers armed with a knife stabbed Gunpat about his body and he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Up to press time he was said to be in the operating theatre.
Citizens chased the two men who were subsequently turned over to the police. A police press release stated that Gunpat was being followed by the two men who boarded his bus from Georgetown to Pouderoyen.
