An accused robber had two charges dismissed on Friday but remains incarcerated for pending court matters.
Keon Simon, 19, of Chapel Street, Charlestown, appeared in court in February on a charge that he robbed Chandanie Ramlakan of a quantity of jewellery, valued $695,000, on Dec-ember 24th, 2014.
Simon was also accused of robbing Nalini Ramlakan of jewellery worth $400,000 on the same day.
In dismissing the charges on Friday, city magistrate Judy Latchman, who presided over Simon’s trial, said the identification of the defendant was not believable.
Since there were inconsistencies in the evidence related by the witness, she said the court would not call on Simon to lead a defence because a prima facie case was not made out.
The charges were dismissed but Simon was escorted out of the courtroom in shackles as he remained on remand for other charges.
Simon, Akeem Marshall, and Lionel Khudu, 22, were previously found guilty of another armed robbery and were fined $75, 000 each.
